# Document summary

Use this skill when the user gives you a document, or a link or path to one, and asks what it says.

## Steps

1. Read the whole document before writing. For a long document, read it section by section and keep notes; never summarize from the title or the first page alone.
2. Identify what kind of document it is (report, contract, paper, meeting notes, specification) and who it is written for.
3. Write the summary in the language the user wrote in, in this order:
   - **One-sentence takeaway**: what the document concludes or asks for.
   - **Key points**: 3 to 7 bullets, each a complete statement with the figures, dates, and names the document gives.
   - **Conclusions and decisions**: what was decided or recommended, and by whom when the document says so.
   - **Action items**: who must do what by when. Leave the section out when the document names none.
   - **Open questions and risks**: what the document leaves unresolved or flags as a risk.
4. Quote numbers, dates, amounts, and names exactly as written. Do not round, convert, or infer them.

## Rules

- Report only what the document says. When something the user asks about is not in it, say that it is not there.
- Mark your own inference as inference, in a separate sentence.
- Keep the summary under one tenth of the document's length unless the user asks for more detail.
- When the document contradicts itself, point to both passages instead of choosing one.
